Central Heating Chemical Inhibitors
Protect central heating systems against corrosion, sludge and limescale with Calmag’s range of central heating chemical inhibitors.
Designed for use by heating professionals, our central heating inhibitors provide long-term protection for boilers, radiators and heating systems when correctly dosed and maintained. Choose from a range of formulations and application methods to suit different system requirements.
CalProtector
Chemical Inhibitor
The Calprotector is used for preventing
and providing protection again corrosion
and limescale build up, ensuring the
longevity of your heating system. It
should be added and left permanently in
the system.
- 10-15 radiators
- 100 litre system
- 1-3% dosage
- Non-acidic & Water soluble.
- Safe to use with stainless steel heat exchangers.
- Will not break down seals anddoes not create leaks.
• Suitable for mixed metal and plastic systems.
CM100
BuildCert/NSF Inhibitor for 100L systems
CM100 is a specially-formulated triple reagent formula that is not only exceptionally effective but also very cost-efficient. One litre can treat up to 10 radiators (equivalent to a standard four bedroom house) or a 100 litre system, giving multi-benefit protection against the build-up of sludge, debris and limescale, whilst being safe for use with most metals in central heating systems.
Flush the system prior to introducing CM100
and dose the system at 1%. Simply pour into the system – CM100 must be left in the system.
(equivalent of a standard 4 bed house)
– 500ml bottle is double concentrate.
• Overdosing does not present a problem.
• Exceptionally effective.
including aluminium, steels, copper and their alloys and with all other materials that are commonly used in central heating systems.
Available as 1 litre or 500ml bottles
CalRad
Electric Towel Radiator Protection
CalRad has been specifically developed for water-filled electric towel radiators. This effective inhibitor offers long term protection and is suitable for indirect heating systems and new or retro-installed radiators.
CalMag’s patented Uni-dose adaptors allow for quick and easy application through the bleed screw or direct through the radiator.
For use with water filled electric towel radiators.
• Prevents hydrogen gassing.
• Non-toxic, and Biodegradable.
• Suitable for all metals.
• Protects against corrosion and limescale.
• Long term life.
• Quick and easy using the patented Uni Dose applicators.
• Protects towel radiators up to 12 litres dosed at 1%.
• Retro application.
• 125ml bottle.
What Does a Central Heating Inhibitor Do?
A central heating inhibitor is a chemical treatment added to the water within a heating system to help protect against corrosion and the formation of sludge and limescale.
Without appropriate treatment, corrosion and deposits can build up within radiators, pipework and other heating components. This can affect circulation and heat transfer and may contribute to reduced system performance.
A suitable inhibitor should be selected and dosed according to the heating system and the manufacturer’s instructions.
When Should You Use a Central Heating Inhibitor?
- After a new heating system installation
- Following system cleaning or power flushing
- When replacing a boiler
- During central heating maintenance
- When an existing system has insufficient inhibitor protection
- When topping up or maintaining inhibitor concentration
Central Heating Inhibitor FAQs
What is a central heating inhibitor?
A central heating inhibitor is a chemical treatment added to the water within a heating system to help protect against corrosion, sludge and limescale.
When should central heating inhibitor be added?
An appropriate inhibitor helps protect heating system components against corrosion and deposit formation, helping maintain system performance over time.
Can central heating inhibitor prevent sludge?
A suitable inhibitor helps control corrosion and the formation of deposits that can contribute to sludge within a heating system.
Can inhibitor be used with aluminium boilers?
Some Calmag inhibitors are formulated for use with aluminium as well as steel, copper and other commonly used heating system materials. Always check the individual product specifications before use.
What is the difference between a central heating inhibitor and a cleanser?
A cleanser is used to remove existing contamination from a heating system, while an inhibitor is used to provide ongoing protection against corrosion and deposit formation.

Here's some extra Central Heating Solutions:
CLEAN
Power Flushing & System Cleaning
Over time, central heating systems can accumulate sludge, scale, corrosion, flux, oil, grease and other debris. This contamination can restrict circulation, reduce heating performance and contribute to boiler and radiator problems.
Calmag power flushing products are designed to help heating professionals effectively clean contaminated central heating systems and restore circulation.

PROTECT
Central Heating Chemicals & Treatment
Cleaning a heating system is only part of the solution. Once a system has been cleaned, it needs ongoing protection against corrosion, scale and further contamination.
Calmag central heating chemicals and treatment packs are designed to help maintain water quality and protect heating systems, boilers, radiators and pipework.

FILTER
Central Heating Chemicals & Treatment
Even with chemical protection, heating systems can generate and collect debris. A suitable central heating filter provides an additional layer of protection by capturing unwanted contaminants before they can circulate around the system.
Calmag central heating filters are designed to help protect boilers and heating components by removing debris from the system.
