Anti-Freeze and Inhibitor
The Calmag antifreeze and inhibitor is a high-performance solution designed to protect central heating and solar systems from freezing, corrosion, and internal damage.
It provides reliable freeze protection while also preventing sludge, scale, and corrosion buildup—helping to extend the lifespan of your system.
Heating system antifreeze works by lowering the freezing point of water within your system, preventing pipes and components from freezing during cold weather.
At the same time, the built-in inhibitor protects against corrosion, reduces sludge and debris, prevents, internal scaling and maintains system efficiency.

- Mono Propylene Glycol Base: Less toxic and more environmentally friendly than traditional antifreeze solutions. Antifreeze protection down to -11°C at a 25% solution and -24°C at a 40% solution.
- Antibacterial Protection: Helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in your system.
- Corrosion Inhibitor: Protects system components from corrosion and scaling.
- Enhanced Heat Transfer: Optimises system efficiency by improving heat transfer.
- Versatility: Suitable for use in solar, central heating, and chilled water systems.
This product is ideal for:
- Domestic central heating systems
- Boilers and radiators
- Solar thermal systems
- Holiday homes or vacant properties
- Commercial heating systems
- Added directly into the heating system
- Can be dosed via radiator, filling loop, or header tank
- Should remain permanently in the system for continuous protection
The level of protection depends on concentration:
- 25% solution → protects to approx. -11°C
- 40% solution → protects to approx. -24°C
Ideal for UK winters and exposed systems
Anti-Freeze FAQs
Antifreeze vs Inhibitor – What’s the Difference?
- Inhibitor only → protects against corrosion and sludge
- Antifreeze + inhibitor → protects against freezing and corrosion
This product combines both for complete system protection.
Why Use Antifreeze in the UK?
In colder months, water inside heating systems can freeze, expand, and cause:
- Burst pipes
- Cracked heat exchangers
- System failure
Antifreeze provides essential protection – especially in:
- unoccupied properties
- loft-installed systems
- external pipework
How can I reduce the effects of hard water?
Depending on your water hardness and requirements, options include water softeners, scale inhibitors and water filters.
