Central Heating Descaler
Professional descaling solutions for removing limescale and scale deposits from central heating systems.
Calmag descalers are designed to help heating professionals tackle scale within heating systems, helping restore clean water pathways and prepare systems for ongoing protection.
CalDescaler
for removing limescale and scale deposits from heating systems.
CalDescaler loosens and dissolves limescale, corrosion deposits and iron oxides typically found in heating systems with circulation and heat transfer problems. Calmag recommends using the CalDescaler for the boiler (heat exchanger) only.
Research has shown that limescale only forms above 70 degrees in a sealed system and is therefore not required in the radiators or pipework.
Dose system with 1/2 litre (half a litre bottle) per 100 litres of water using a powerflush machine.
Benefits
- Descaler
- 1 litre
- 10-15 radiators
- 100 litre system
- 1-3% dosage
What Does a Central Heating Descaler Remove?
Central heating descalers are formulated to tackle mineral deposits and limescale that can accumulate within heating system components.
Depending on the product and application, descaling treatment can help remove:
- Limescale deposits
- Mineral scale
- Hard-water deposits
- Scale build-up around heat-transfer surfaces
- Deposits affecting circulation and system components
Central Heating Inhibitor FAQs
Descaler vs Cleanser – What's the Difference?
Descaler vs Cleanser – What’s the Difference?
Although both products are used to clean heating systems, they have different purposes.
Central heating cleansers are primarily used to remove contamination such as sludge, flux, installation debris and other deposits from heating systems.
Central heating descalers are specifically intended to tackle limescale and mineral scale deposits.
The appropriate treatment depends on the condition of the heating system and the type of contamination present.
Why does a central heating system need descaling?
Scale can accumulate within heating systems, particularly in hard-water areas. Significant deposits can affect components, water circulation and heat transfer.
Should I use inhibitor after descaling?
After the system has been appropriately cleaned and refilled, a suitable inhibitor can provide ongoing protection against corrosion and further deposit formation.
Can a descaler remove central heating sludge?
A descaler is primarily intended to tackle scale and limescale. Where sludge and other contamination are present, a suitable central heating cleanser or other system-cleaning method may be more appropriate.

Here's some extra Central Heating Solutions:
CLEAN
Power Flushing & System Cleaning
Over time, central heating systems can accumulate sludge, scale, corrosion, flux, oil, grease and other debris. This contamination can restrict circulation, reduce heating performance and contribute to boiler and radiator problems.
Calmag power flushing products are designed to help heating professionals effectively clean contaminated central heating systems and restore circulation.

- Powerflush Chemical
- Central heating system cleaning
PROTECT
Central Heating Chemicals & Treatment
Cleaning a heating system is only part of the solution. Once a system has been cleaned, it needs ongoing protection against corrosion, scale and further contamination.
Calmag central heating chemicals and treatment packs are designed to help maintain water quality and protect heating systems, boilers, radiators and pipework.

- Central heating inhibitors
- System cleaners
- Heating treatment packs
- System protection chemicals
FILTER
Central Heating Chemicals & Treatment
Even with chemical protection, heating systems can generate and collect debris. A suitable central heating filter provides an additional layer of protection by capturing unwanted contaminants before they can circulate around the system.
Calmag central heating filters are designed to help protect boilers and heating components by removing debris from the system.

- Central heating filters
- Magnetic filtration
- Boiler protection
- System filtration
